A California nurse and single mother of two died Saturday after an accident while hiking Mount Whitney. CBS Los Angeles reports Cassandra Bravo dedicated the past two years to saving lives at Loma Linda University Medical Center and, in her final days, the 34-year-old tried her best to save her own. Her spirit was so strong, said her friend, Luisa Moya. She was badass. Moya said Bravo was taking a quick day hike along the Mt. Whitney trail last Thursday when she slipped and fell about 100 feet down rocky terrain. Bravo survived two nights alone in freezing temperatures as a snowstorm approached, sheltering her severely injured body by dragging herself underneath a log. She survived two very

SAN FRANCISO -- The San Francisco Fire Department was able to rescue three adults who got trapped on a cliff at San Francisco s Baker Beach Friday afternoon, officials said. Firefighters used harnesses and ropes to pull the three up, and they were able to walk out on their own from there, CBS San Francisco reports.The three hikers went over the ropes at the top of the cliff around 2 p.m. And found themselves stuck on the steep cliff about 75 feet down from the top of the cliff face.Michael Norton, a friend of the three hikers, told CBS San Francisco they were all visiting from Crockett, Texas, near Houston. They came to the area to go on an afternoon hike.

Here earlier this afternoon, we got separated and I ve been hiking around looking for them, explained Norton. And all of a sudden waiting for them, all of this commotion happened.
